EDWARD GEORGE DARICHUK We are saddened to announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Edward Darichuk at the age of 78 years. He is survived by his wife Diana of 54 years, and his three children, Nancy (Bryan) Dewson, Marilyn (Ken) Eichen and Edward Darichuk Jr. He will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Evan Eichen and Michelle Dewson, as well as Ed's mother Annie who is 98 years old and is a resident of Betel Home in Selkirk. Ed was predeceased by his granddaughter Elise. Ed was born in Selkirk and lived his life in Lockport. He worked at Manitoba Rolling Mills for 40 years. While working hard at his job and helping to raise three children, he led a very active life. He loved sports and played baseball and hockey in his younger years and curling in later years. He loved music and played accordion in a band. He enjoyed many years of market gardening on his beautiful piece of property on the river. He loved to travel to Mexico and had many wonderful trips where he always made new friends. He had the ability to make friends instantly wherever he went. Ed enjoyed people and loved visiting with friends and family as often as he could. All were made to feel welcome at anytime. Thank you to all of the family, friends and neighbors for your care and support. Special thanks to Dr. Racette and the wonderful staff at Selkirk General Hospital for their compassionate care. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, November 13 at 11:00 a.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk with Rev. Fr. Oris Naherniak officiating. Interment will take place in the St. Nicholas Ukrainian Orthodox Churchyard cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to the Children's Wish Foundation, 350 St. Mary's Ave, Winnipeg, MB, R3C 3J2. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
