Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBERNIE CULLEN On November 9, 2006, Bernie, much loved dad of Richard, Judy (David) and Ted (Barb); grandfather of Scott (Karen), Janie (Dirk) and Ryan and graet-grandfather to Ashley, Marshall and Dane, passed away at St. Norbert Personal Care Home. In June 2005, after sharing almost 66 years of marriage and seven years of courting , Bernie was predeceased by his first love, Merne. Bernie was born May 2, 1915, the second oldest of six children. His youngest sister, Margaret Owens, survives him. Many of Bernie's attitudes and beliefs were shaped by his family's experiences of living through the Depression. He had strong social values and believed the stability of a home was of utmost importance in family life. Thus when he practiced real estate, his greatest sense of satisfaction came from guiding a young family in the purchase of their first home. His generous spirit and keen interest in people defined Bernie and his children, nieces, nephews, grandchildren and many of his children's friends will fondly remember these special qualities. For the last two years, Bernie's home was at St. Norbert. Our family is so appreciative of the outstanding people who work there, as they opened their doors and hearts to both Mom and Dad. Their caring and compassion helped us through the tough times. A special note of thanks goes to Dad's two best friends, Joanne and Sophie. Bernie requested there be no formal funeral service. Cremation has taken place. Should friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Habitat for Humanity, 60 Archibald, Winnipeg, MB, R2J 0V8.
