Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARY EVELYN HOBSON (nee EVERETT) November 28, 1927 November 5, 2006 It is with great sadness that we announce that on November 5, 2006, Mary passed away at the Deer Lodge Centre. She will be remembered with great love by her husband of 52 years, Douglas; her daughters, Cheryl (Bill), Peggy (Les), and her son Douglas (Shaun); her grandchildren, Kelly (Enrico), Billy, Jamie, Colby, Mathew, Casey, Anna, Kaylee, Douglas, Katelyn, Hillary, Abby and her great-grandchildren, Sebastian, Kamryn and Maggie. Mary is survived by her brother Perry (Donnie), and her sisters, Marg, and Jean (Art) and many nieces, nephews and friends. Mary is predeceased by her sister Ardith (Bryson). Mary was born in Iroquois, Ontario, trained as a nurse, practiced nursing in Ontario and then moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba to become a stewardess with Trans Canada Airlines. This is where she met the love of her life and husband, Douglas. Together, with their love of family and friends they shared many adventures, many of which centered around their property in La Salle, Manitoba, and later their condo at Marina del Rey in St. Norbert, MB. Mary was active in the community, often seen supervising many of the town's children for swimming lessons in the river, and helping to care for the family's collection of pets. She was a friend to all and always available to help. Some of her favourite pastimes were singing by a campfire, playing bridge, singing in the church choir, knitting, and holding delicious Sunday suppers where the family gathered. Mary's spirit of kindness, gentle, stoic nature and her sense of humour were present until the end. Her husband Douglas says it all for us in the little code he always reminded her of H.D.W. We have, we do, and we always will love you. A private family ceremony to celebrate Mary's life will be held. The family would like to thank the staff of The Deer Lodge Centre for their kindness and their care for Mary. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary's memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba.
