Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryNESTOR DOLINSKY October 15, 1920 - October 22, 2006 On Sunday, October 22, 2006 Nestor Dolinsky passed away peacefully at the Flin Flon General Hospital, at the age of 86. Nestor was born in Ethelbert, MB and spent his early years at the family farm near Pine River. During the depression, Nestor rode the rails with his brother John, looking for work and gaining experience that would shape his passion for social democracy. Nestor came to Flin Flon in 1942, where he began employment with the Hudson's Bay Mining and Smelting Company, working his way up from labourer to the electrical trade over his years in the mines, before retiring in 1981. It was also in Flin Flon that he met Vicki, his beloved wife of over 63 years. Nestor was energetic in work, business, and in community involvement. He was a founding member of the Flin Flon Co-op, and also served several terms on its Board of Directors. He brought television to Flin Flon, first by selling television sets from a rail car, and then establishing Nestor's Radio and TV. He was passionate about politics, with involvement in the CCF and later NDP in both Manitoba and Saskatchewan. He was a tireless organizer and campaigner at the grassroots level; later a mentor to many provincial MLA's and ministers; and served as a government appointee on provincial boards. Nestor still found time to be a caring father and grandfather, creating many memories by building a cottage at Bakers Narrows, fishing trips and many card games with the grandchildren. Nestor was predeceased by his parents as well as his brothers, Bert and John. He is survived by his wife Vicki (nee Harrison) and sister Vicky; sons, Wayne (Marlyne), Terry; grandchildren, Ken (Tara), Vernon, Jennifer (Yvan), and Kristina (Colin); and daughter-in-law Mari-Jean. Cremation has taken place, and a memorial service was held on Wednesday, October 25. The family is grateful for the care of Dr. Sauer and Dr. Relling, and the staff at Flin Flon General Hospital. Thanks also to Reverend Janis Campbell, and all their friends and family for their cards, calls, visits, and generous gifts of flowers and food. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Flin Flon General Hospital, Business Office, P.O. Box 340, Flin Flon, MB, R8A 1N2.
