HUGO TOBER August 13, 1915 November 12, 2006 Peacefully on the morning of November 12, 2006 Hugo passed away at Victoria Hospital. He is survived by his daughter Renate (Harris) Liontas and his grandchildren, Tom, Demetri, and Jessica. He is also survived by his brother Alfred and sister Alina Menzel. He was predeceased by his wife Anna in 1968; his parents Edward and Olga, and his brothers, Zigmund, Herman and Gustav. Hugo immigrated to Canada in 1953. He worked hard in construction for many years and eventually became a foreman for East Kildonan Parks and Recreation Department. He retired in 1980 but continued to lead an active and independent life. He enjoyed music, dancing, and going to the legion. Dad loved his home, his yard, and just being outdoors. His greatest love however was for his three grandchildren. He encouraged, supported and loved everything they did. His final week was especially meaningful for us. Dad continued to have enough strength and will to visit with those who meant the most to him, his grandchildren. His entire being was devoted to their happiness. We will miss him very much but understand his time had come to rest. We would like to express our thanks to all the staff of Unit 5 North at Victoria Hospital for taking such good care of Hugo for so many months. Your kindness and compassion will always be remembered. Thank you to Hugo's homecare nurses and health care aides for helping him stay at home as long as possible. We thank Tuxedo Villa Nursing Home for all their care and support and trying to keep Hugo comfortable. A special thank you to Dr. Harold Nyhof and his wife Brenlea for their years of care and support for dad. What the heart gives away is never gone. It is kept in the hearts of others. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday, November 16, 2006 at Thomson Funeral Home, 669 Broadway, with interment to follow at Brookside Cemetery. Flowers gratefully declined. Thomson Funeral Home 669 Broadway, 783-7211
