Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMILDRED IRENE DESJARLAIS May 4, 1930 November 12, 2006 While surrounded by family on Sunday, November 12, 2006 at the Selkirk General Hospital, Mildred peacefully passed on, at the age of 76 years old. Mildred will be lovingly remembered by her sister Verna and her brother Russell; sons, Charles, Orton, Earl, Kurt (Donna); daughters, Evelyn, Brenda (Leonard); 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Mildred was born and raised in Grand Marais, MB. After marrying Sam in 1958, Mildred resided in Scanterbury where she and Sam raised their family. Mildred had many different careers throughout her life, she worked in Grand Marais, Fisheries, Farming, managed the Brokenhead store, and she retired as a homecare worker. Her most rewarding career was being a mother, nan and kookoo. Mildred and Sam had many passions in their life together, whether it was packing a lunch and the family and spending the day picking berries or taking in a wrestling match, or just going for a drive to visit family and friends. Mildred had many friends, both new and old, her home was always open for company. Mildred was an active member of the St. Philips Anglican Church and Scanterbury House of Prayer. Predeceased by her parents, Mary in 1946 and Albert in 1965; three brothers, George in 1973, Orton in 1955 and Mathew in 1994; one sister Victoria in 1993; her husband Sam in 1997; son Rhinauld in 1980; three daughters and one son in infancy; and two granddaughters. Special thanks to Dr. M. Speers, and the nursing staff at SDGH for the excellent care that was given to Mom. Also, to the homecare workers that worked for Mom over the years. An evening prayer service will be held at the Gilbart Funeral Home in Selkirk on Wednesday, November 15 (tonight) at 7:00 p.m. A two night wake will be held at the Scanterbury Community Hall starting after prayers on Wednesday. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, November 17 at 2:00 p.m. at the Sgt. Tommy Prince School Gym with interment to follow in the St. Philips Anglican Church Cemetery. The Reverends Judy Whitmore and Tina Leveque will be officiating. Honourary pallbearers will be Kevin Thomas, Jeff Desjarlais, Leonard Sinclair, Raymond Folster, Kerry Desjarlais and Albert Sinclair. Active pallbearers will be Earl, Kurt, Orton, Winston, Earl Jr. Desjarlais, and Wally Sinclair. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
