ELIZABETH IDA KIRKPATRICK With great sadness the families announce the November 12, 2006 passing of Elizabeth Kirkpatrick at Resthaven Nursing Home, Steinbach, Manitoba. Elizabeth was born December 4, 1906 and until recently had been in sufficiently stable health for her family to plan to gather for her 100th birthday celebration. Elizabeth was predeceased by her husband Gordon; daughter Joan Berge and an infant son. Left to mourn her passing are her daughter, Barbara (Fred) Passmore, her son Brian (Joan), son Willard (Sylvia); son-in-law Howard Berge and sister Madeline Henshaw. She had nine grandchildren, Wayne (Libby) Passmore, Kirk (Heather) Passmore, Alison (Dave) Rochon, Heather (Dan) Clifford, Carla (Bernie) Bahr, Nadine (Tom) Cumming, Carolyn Berge, Mark (Bethan) Kirkpatrick, Ellen Kirkpatrick, six great-grandchildren and six step great-grandchildren. Elizabeth was born in Winnipeg, graduated from Northwestern University (Chicago), married Gordon Kirkpatrick in 1929 and spent the next 34 years farming in the Ridgeville/Greenridge area. She was active in the community through music, 4H Clubs, the United Church and other organizations including a founding membership and first presidency of the Greenridge Women's Institute. After retiring from the farm she and Gordon traveled for two years and then moved to Steinbach, where both were employed, again put down roots, and became part of the wonderful community. The family wishes to express our special thanks to the staff at Resthaven Nursing Home for their devotion, care and compassion. There will be a memorial service Saturday, December 2, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at the Steinbach Funeral Home, 5 Chrysler Gate (at Highway 12) Steinbach. The ash interment will be at Greenridge Cemetery, as part of a family commitment service. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the Greenridge Cemetery Association, Box 7, Greenridge, Manitoba, R0A 0P0.
