JOYCE HEPBURN Peacefully on Tuesday, November 14, 2006 at Health Sciences Centre, Joyce passed away following a long exhausting struggle. She fought bravely all the way maintaining her wonderful sense of humour. Her spirit was an inspiration to her family and many friends. Joyce will be lovingly remembered by her partner Allen; her son Greg (Sharon); her grandchildren Paul (Julie) and Scott plus many extended family members and friends whose lives she has touched in so many ways. Her parents Robert and Bertha Holmes and brothers Sid and Norman predeceased her. Joyce was a singer at heart and in her earlier years she entertained people throughout Canada and the USA. Her true love was singing and entertaining. In 1958 she went to New York and Chicago and spent some time at the Chalet Hotel in Belmont, Quebec. Joyce had her own radio show at CJOB Joyce Clarke Sings . Joyce worked for many years with Domtar Paper Limited; she concluded her working career with Manitoba Health Services; retiring in 1987. Joyce always had a true love for animals and she leaves behind her faithful cat Thomasina who will surely miss her. Because of Joyce's love of animals, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society of Manitoba, 5 Kent Street, Winnipeg, MB. The family wishes to thank Dr. Johnson and the staff on GD2 at Health Sciences Centre for their care and compassion. Peacefully sleeping, resting at last The world's weary troubles and trials are past In silence she suffered, in patience she bore Till God called her home to suffer no more Now she's really singing with the stars Family and friends are invited to a Come and Go Reception on Saturday, November 18, 2006 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Bardal Funeral Home, 843 Sherbrook Street. Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • I was sad to hear Joyce has gone. Almost 60 years ago, I was one of the "Overtones" when we sang for many years together in Winnipeg. We had so many good times and Joyce always kept us laughing (when we weren't singing). "There will never be another you", Joyce. Dear friend, you are at peace now. For Allen, my heartfelt sympathy to you and of course, to Greg and family also. I will miss you a lot. Eileen Farrell Foster Napa, California - Posted by: Eileen foster (Family) on: Nov 22, 2006

  • Allen Hennan and I grew up together in Elkhorn and I was in Winnipeg when Joyce arrived on the scene. What a great, devoted pair they made and what an enviable relationship they shared. Usually when I returned to Winnipeg we would get to Rae and Jerry's for lunch. What I will always remember is Joyce's infectious laugh and her unfailing ability to mix me up with my brother Bill. One of Al's favorite sayings was "It brings a tear to the eye" . It really does at times like this. Rest well, Joyce. Deepest sympathy all but especially Joan and Allen. - Posted by: Jim Loewen (Family) on: Nov 16, 2006

  • Dear Joyce, Thank you so much for 34 wonderful years of being the best friend I will ever have. You were my constant champion, mentor, confidant and helped me to become the person I am today. I will miss you so very, very much. I will treat Thomasina with the same loving care that you did until she can be with you again. I have been truly blessed to have been a part of your life. All my love, Joan. - Posted by: Joan Saunders (Friend) on: Nov 15, 2006
