He leaves to mourn his beloved wife Gloria, and their six children, Karen, Kathy Ezinicki (Bob), Kurt (Colleen), Kelly (Cindy), Kristine Karwacki (Wayne) and Karla Qually (Randy). He also leaves his precious granddaughters, Sharon (Mark), Tracy, Ellen, Rachelle, Lauren, Alexandra, Jodi and Krysten. He is also survived by his sisters, June Brownell (Norval), Marguerite Reutner (Albert); sister-in-law Anita Buckoski (Walter); brothers-in-law, Archie Lavallee, Marc Lavallee (Diane); and many other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his mother Christina and father Henry; his older brother Bill; and his younger sister Ruth Hatcher. Dad was born October 4, 1928 and grew up in the North End. When his father passed away at an early age, Dad did not hesitate to quit school and join the workforce to help out the family. He worked at many jobs until he started his career with CN Rail, riding the caboose as a freight conductor for 37 years. He retired at age 58 years and had enjoyed just over 20 years of retirement. He met Mom through her girlfriend, Joanie and they happily celebrated 50 years of marriage in January 2006. They spent many winter vacations in Phoenix with Anita and Buck. They also travelled to Hawaii and Jamaica with family. Dad loved to golf, curl, fish and go camping with his family. Family was very important to Papa. His eight granddaughters were the love of his life. He was proud of building his home on Henderson Highway and his cottage at Black's Point. Mom and Dad enjoyed getting together with his brother and sisters once a week for their lunch dates and spending the occasional weekend at Maggie's cottage. The family would like to thank all the doctors and nurses in the SICU ward at the St. Boniface Hospital. Special thanks to Dr. Arora and nurse Greg for the special care for Papa and the kindness shown to our family. Services will be held at Klassen Funeral Home, 1897 Henderson Hwy., on Saturday, November 18, at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, a donation to benefit Ellen's school, The Movement Centre of Manitoba Inc., 1646 Henderson Hwy., Winnipeg, MB R2G 1N7 would be greatly appreciated.
