OREST THEODOR KALINOVICH Mr. Orest Theodor Kalinovich, aged 79 years, of Beausejour dearly beloved husband of Rita, passed away on November 10, 2006 at his home. He was predeceased by his parents Anne and Peter, and his son Peter Theodor. Orest is the oldest of the family and is survived by his brothers Myron (Nancy), David (Marilyn), sisters Alice (Ron) Andrews and Mary (Sam) Kozak as well as nieces Susan Andrews (Bob Caissie), Cara (Harvey) Katterhagen, Nancy (Mike) Miller, Diana (Cecil) Milligan, nephews Shawn, Robert, and Christopher (Brenda) Kalinovich, his great-nephews Scott and Brent Miller, Chase Milligan, Hunter Katterhagen, and Finn Kalinovich, and great-niece Ryenne Katterhagen. Orest came to Elma from Ethelbert with his family in 1946 where his parents operated a general store for 40 years. He worked on railway gangs for a spell and then was employed as an elevator operator and grain handler. He worked as a park attendant and tower man at Otter Falls where he took his bride in 1958. He retired in 1983 after 25 years of service and moved to Beausejour where he became involved in volunteering with the following organizations: Co-op Board of Directors, Knights of Columbus, Beausejour Brokenhead Recreational Complex, Heart Stroke Foundation, March of Dimes, Meals on Wheels, Blood Donor Clinic, Beautification Committee, and Malanka. He received the Lieutenant Governor Vice Regal Volunteer Award and Lieutenant Governor Make a difference Community Award Eastern Region in 2003. In his spare time he was an icemaker at Seven Sisters Falls. His buddy and cousin Nick Dayholos were well known for their tree felling abilities. Rita and Orest travelled widely to festivals and visited friends and relatives many of whom were past park patrons. He enjoyed riding his bike in town, enjoyed a good joke; his hearty laugh could be easily recognized. A prayer service was held at Sobering Funeral Chapel Beausejour on Wednesday, November 15, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. with Deacon Stefan Tyrawski presiding.
