LUCIA D'ANTONIO With sorrowful hearts and deep sadness, after a lengthy illness, we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mamma, nonna and bisnonna, Lucia D'Antonio on Sunday, November 12, 2006 at the Golden West Centennial Lodge, at the age of 83 years. Lucia is lovingly remembered by her children, Beatrice Cardillo (Gesualdo), Carmine D'Antonio (Debra); granddaughters, Teresa Laforges (Lino), Sabrina Stocki (Darryl), Jenelle Ford (David), Nicole and Adrienne D'Antonio; great-grandchildren, Dylan and Brady Stocki and Chloe Ford; brother-in-law Giuseppe Buccini and numerous relatives and friends in Canada and her native country Italy. Lucia was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Ernesto on October 25, 2005; two infant children, Carmine and Teresa; her mother Rosalinda and her father Emidio; her brother Antonio and her infant great-grandson Jon D'Antonio. Mamma was born September 23, 1923 in Villalago (Aquila) Italy and immigrated to Canada in 1961 to join her husband. Lucia worked as a seamstress at Kaplans Clothing Manufacturing Co. until her retirement in 1971. Mamma will always be remembered for her very generous and caring nature. Her family and friends were the centre of her life. Lucia enjoyed cooking, sewing, knitting, crocheting, but her passion was gardening. She loved being outdoors tending to her vegetable and flower gardens, which were always admired by friends and neighbours. However, her greatest pride and joy were her granddaughters and her great-grandson Dylan. Unfortunately, due to the nature of her illness, she did not get to know Brady and Chloe. The family extends special thanks to the home care aides, especially Marybel, Sheila, Karin; friend Teresa, all the staff at the nursing home and relatives and friends who took time out of their busy life to visit mamma. Prayers will be said on Friday, November 17 at 7:00 p.m. at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 510 River Avenue. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 18 at 10:00 a.m. also at the Church with Rev. Father Sam Argenziano presiding. Entombment to follow at the Assumption Mausoleum. Flowers are gratefully declined. If family and friends so desire, donations may be made in Lucia's memory to the Heart Stroke Foundation, 200 - 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6 or Golden West Centennial Lodge, 811 School Road, Winnipeg, MB R2Y 0S8.
