Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOYCE ISABELLE HOLMSTROM (nee PRESTON) January 15, 1934 - November 14, 2006 After a courageous battle with cancer and arthritis, our mom, Joyce Holmstrom said goodbye to us with the morning light welcoming her to a new beginning. She was comforted knowing that the people who mattered to her most - her family - were at her side, holding her hand until all were ready to let go. We trust that she was sweetly delivered into the arms of our dad, the love of her life, Floyd Holmstrom, who left this world January 12th, 1990. She was predeceased by her brother Ross and sister Betty. Her memory is cherished by her three daughters, Jo-Ann (Glen), Lynnette (Al), and Candace. Mom was, and will continue to be an inspiration to all of us. She showed us the wisdom of living life truly and simply. She took daily joy in feeding the birds in the backyard, going for drives to Half Moon with her family, and tuning into Coronation Street each day. We always knew never to call when her favourite program was on television. Mom had a special bond with her son-in-law, Al Ribachuk. She frequently could be heard saying he's good to me when she spoke of the many times he took her to medical appointments, helped her with groceries, or picked her up for a holiday dinner. She loved animals and was always generous in supporting organizations that helped and cared for them, particularly D'Arcy's ARC (Animal Rescue Centre). She loved all her Toms , the name she affectionately called her cats throughout life - whether a girl or boy. She would be happy knowing that Lynnie, Al, and the boys will be taking good care of Tom. Mom was especially proud of her three grandsons. Joel, Christopher and David all understood that what Grandma said, Grandma meant. She taught them to know there is a time to not take life so seriously, to find your sense of humour and learn to laugh - even at yourself. Our gratitude to Doctor Boris Rivkin. Mom spoke often of how much she appreciated your care for her and our Dad throughout the years. We also would like to say a special thank you to Doctor Joshua and nurses, Marissa and Trina at the Grace. Mom will be forever remembered in the hearts of her angels. I'll love you forever, I'll like you for always, as long as I'm living my mommy you'll be. At mom's request cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held.
