DANIEL REHALUK God bless our husband, father and grandfather, Daniel Rehaluk, who passed away on Tuesday, November 15, 2006 at the West Park Manor Personal Care Home at the age of 94. Daniel was predeceased by his parents, Michael and Amelia; brothers, Bill (Eva), Steve (Ann), Philip (Mary); sisters Stephany (Mike Pachkowski) and Eileen (Peter Dudar). Daniel is survived by his wife Anne; son Larry; daughter-in-law Kathleen; grandchildren, Tanya, Mark and Timothy; brothers Paul (Ilene), Peter (Ann); sisters Kate (John Hawryluk), Mary (Matt Kolsinski), Ann Bodnar; and sister-in-law Ann (Steve Rehaluk). Born in Preeceville, SK in 1912, Dan moved with his family to the East Bay region near Lake Dauphin in Manitoba around 1919, where they farmed for several years. The family moved to the Ethelbert region where they established a subsequent farm. Dan decided in 1936 to strike out on his own and headed for Sudbury, ON where he worked for International Nickel for about a year. On June 28, 1936, he married Anne Huculak, who he had previously met in the Rorketon area. Dan and Anne lived in Sudbury for about a year and then decided to relocate to Rorketon, MB. They decided to start a merchant business in Rorketon. Initially they established a store in the same premises as Dan's brother Steve. As the business grew they decided to relocate their business to a separate building right next door. Dan and Anne ran a successful dry goods store until 1981. During this time Dan was quite active in the Ukrainian Catholic Church and the community. Dan held other positions during this time such as mayor, fire chief, assessor in the community and treasurer for the church. Dan and Anne sang for many years in the Sts. Peter Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church choir. Dan was also instrumental in the start up of the Credit Union in Rorketon. He was very proud of the fact that he had Account No. 1 in the Credit Union. During their many years in Rorketon, Dan and Anne had their son Larry. After Dan's retirement Dan and Anne lived in Rorketon until 1997 at which point they moved to Winnipeg to be closer to their family. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated by Fr. Mark Gnutel and Fr. Darrin Gurr at the Holy Family Ukrainian Catholic Church at 1001 Grant on Monday, November 20 at 10:00 a.m. Vichnaya Pamyat Family Owned and Operated Knysh Funeral Chapel 582-0973
