MARGARET DINNEY It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Margaret, on November 15, 2006 at the Concordia Hospital. Margaret was predeceased by her husband William (Bill). She is survived by her daughters, Monica, Marcia, Merrill and Marlayne; sons-in-law, David, Simon and Rob; grandchildren, Kallie and Landon; her sister Louella Matheson; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, George and Nina Dinney and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She will also be missed by her dear, long-time friends, Ida MacPherson and family, Rosalie and Gilles Valcourt and Mary Clare. Margaret was born and grew up in Winnipeg, the elder daughter of Gordon and Effie Harton. She attended Daniel McIntyre High School and then lived for awhile with an aunt and uncle in Omaha, Nebraska, prior to returning to Winnipeg and working as a hair stylist. She loved to dance, spend time with friends and enjoyed many trips on the Moonlight Special to Grand Beach. She met Bill while he was serving with the R.C.A.F. during the Second World War. They married after his return from Europe, first settling on Sherburn Street then later in East Kildonan where they raised their daughters, who were known affectionately to family and friends as the 4 M's. Margaret was a loving and devoted mother, who also doted on her two grandchildren. She kept family and friends close to her heart and faithfully corresponded with those far away. She faced many health challenges over the past number of years with acceptance, determination and dignity. She was appreciative of the care and kindness given to her by her home care workers, especially Regina, and our family extends our thanks to these special people. She also loved animals and was saddened to lose her cats, Punky and Sheba, in 2004. Margaret will be remembered as a kind, generous and trusting person who often put others before herself. Although soft spoken, she had great inner strength. In lieu of flowers, if friends so wish, Margaret would be pleased to know that donations had been made in her memory to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, the Winnipeg Humane Society or to a charity of their choice, as she supported many. A private service will be held. Chapel Lawn Funeral Home 885-9715
