GARNET NORTHCUT August 6, 1927 - November 11, 2006. On November 11, 2006 Garnet Northcut passed away at the Assiniboine Centre in Brandon, Manitoba. He was 79 years of age. Garnet was born and raised in Elkhorn, Manitoba. He met and married Martha Jean Harris, of Maryfield, Saskatchewan in 1948. Family life was the priority for both of them. Garnet worked for Canadian Pacific Rail for 42 years as a dispatcher and Trainman. He also had additional businesses in Brandon including the Western Motel and the Wellington Block. Dad enjoyed his retirement years on his farm in the Brandon Hills. His wife Martha predeceased Garnet in February 2000. He is survived by his four children: Ford (Wendy) Northcut, grandchildren Amy Jean (Eric) Skidmore, great-grandchildren Bethany and Jacob Skidmore; Daryl Northcut; Luana (Wayne) Hiebert, grandchildren Dane and DarylAnn Hiebert; Annadee Northcut, grandchild Deanna White, great-grandchild Zacary White. Also left to cherish are his two nieces: Darlene (Bruce) Watman; Annette (Mark) Thompson. Garnet's family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Vissser and the staff at the palliative care unit in the Assiniboine Centre for the care given to their Dad. Funeral services were held at the First Presbyterian Church, Brandon, Manitoba on Thursday, November 16, 2006 with Rev. Dr. Dale Woods officiating. Interment was in the Brandon Hills Cemetery.
