Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFREDA (MARGARET) KINDRAT (nee SCHERZA) 1930 2006 Surrounded by love, our dear wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend passed away on Saturday, November 18, at Selkirk and District General Hospital after a sudden illness. Margaret will be greatly missed and forever loved by her husband John, her daughter Janice (Harris), grandson Dylan and step-granddaughter Brandie; her daughter Cathy (Bedard), son-in-law Jim and grandsons Justin, Jordan and Jared and his wife Tammie and great granddaughter Hayley, all of Selkirk; her son Craig (Kindrat) and daughter-in-law Deb and grandson Hayden of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; her sister Emily Stock and brother-in-law Len Kindrat of Brandon; her brother Chuck Scherza and wife Anne of Rhode Island; many nieces and nephews, and numerous cherished friends. Margaret was predeceased by her parents Charles and Maria Scherza; her sister Minn and husband Frank Bachinski; her sister Marion and husband Carl Tegg; her sister Martha and husband Murray Stock; her brother Norman and wife Irene Scherza; her brother-in-law Wilfred Stock; sister-in-law Gwen Kindrat; as well as her husband's parents, Katherine and Peter Kindrat and Mike Kuzyk; her dear son-in-law, Roger Harris, as well as several beloved nieces and nephews. Margaret was born in Brandon on March 31, 1930. She completed her nurse's training in Brandon, graduating as the Valedictorian of her class, and was the recipient of the Blanche Eugenie Barager Memorial medal. Starting her nursing career at the Brandon Mental Hospital, she relocated to Selkirk with her family in 1962, where she continued to practice nursing at the Selkirk Mental Health Center until her retirement in 1991. Dedication, compassion and kindness are just a few of the words that could be used to describe her commitment to her patients and co-workers throughout her career. During her lifetime, Margaret made many very close friends, whom she loved dearly. She married her high school sweetheart, John, in 1953, and together they were blessed with three children, of whom she was very proud. The true focus of Margaret's life was her family. There was no place that she would rather be than surrounded by the people she loved. Mom had a gift for making every person and every day special through her thoughtful, giving nature and never-ending acts of kindness. As her family grew, she so enjoyed her five grandsons, and in most recent years, she felt much joy in the time she spent with her great-granddaughter, Hayley. Mom was truly the heart of our family, and we have all been inspired to be better people because of her. Her deep faith in God was evident by the way she lived her life. The family would like to thank Dr. Demsas and the staff of the Emergency Department and the Medical Ward of the Selkirk and District General Hospital for all their care, Pastors Dave Saude and Jeff Decelle for their caring presence, and the loving support from our many friends and relatives during this most difficult time. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service to celebrate Mom's life will be held on Wednesday, November 22 at 2:00 p.m. in the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church on Highway No. 9 in Selkirk. A private family interment will take place at a later date. Flowers are gratefully declined by the family, but if you so wish, donations may be made in Margaret's memory to the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Selkirk, Manitoba. Gilbart's Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.

I was shocked and saddened to hear of Marg's passing and extend my sincerest condolences to John and his family. It seems there are fewer of us left every day and I know how hard it is to come to terms with this kind of loss. I'm in Texas for the winter or I would be there to share your sorrow. - Posted by: robert sproule (Family) on: Nov 24, 2006
