Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARIE KATHLEEN MILLS (WELK) Peacefully passed away (surrounded by family) on November 13, 2006 at the Souris Health Centre at the age of 73. Marie was predeceased by her husband Jim (1984) and her parents, Isabel and David Welk. She is survived by dear friend Eddy Morrison and her siblings, Bernie Pritchard, Bud Welk and Dolores (Don) Atkinson and numerous nieces and nephews; her children, Chris and Verla Mills and their children, Penny Hunt (Mark), Duane Mills (Dorthea) and Shawna Ducharme (Darryle), Kathy and Trevor Luten and their children, Blake Luten, Kirk Luten (Debbie) and Sarah Laird (Bill), Fred and Michele Mills and their children, Chris (Lori), Stacey Mills, Meghan Mills and Marie Mills, Terry and Heather Mills, (Terry's children), Tara Mills and Micheal Mills, Peggy and David Thomas and their children, Jennifer Thomas (David Sandney), Jimmy Thomas, and Dave's children, Donna Kathler (Leighton) and Jason Thomas, Tim and Joan Mills and their children, Krista Mills and James Mills, Colleen and Ed Piper and their children, Curtis Piper (Cindy) and Jamie Piper. Great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Melissa Hunt, Kaitlyn and Chelsey Mills, Dagwood and Bruno Luten, Makaily and Abigail Laird, Codie, Braydon and Colton Mills, Anna Mills, Nathan and Mitchell Kathler, Matthew and Janelle Thomas, Taylor, Logan and Avery Piper. Her family and many friends will miss her. Mom was born in Ceylon, SK on February 23, 1933. She moved to Hartney on October 4, 1943. She married Jim Mills on March 27, 1950. Marie and Jim farmed in the Hartney area. They moved to town in the early 1970s shortly after mom started work at Hartney Hospital as a nurse's aid. It was a job that Mom thoroughly enjoyed. Mom was active in the community enjoying skating, curling, 4-H, the Royal Purple and her coffee breaks with many friends. She loved knitting, sewing, fishing, gardening, bird watching and was an excellent cook. Mom loved her family dearly and enjoyed participating in any activity that involved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A service was held on Friday at the Hartney United Church, Hartney, MB with interment in the Hartney Cemetery on November 17.
