DONALD JAMES CAMPBELL Don was born Sunday, October 23, 1949, at The Pas, MB. He was raised in The Pas and loved it here. He hated to leave home for any reason. After high school graduation, he tried university, but quickly decided that if there was no football program he was going home. He worked for Carlson Mobile Homes for a few years until he was hired on at Manfor Lumber Division, where he worked for 33 years until his retirement in October 2004. He often spoke of his part-time job at Parker's Family Food Store. Don was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 19 and spent many evenings there dancing and enjoying himself. He was also involved with the Pascindco Social Club when it was beginning. We all have memories of music in Don's life: learning to play guitar, attempting to sing, playing his drums, spoons and other instruments we did not even know the names of. All his nieces and nephews have special memories of Uncle Don and will be remembering him with smiles, for forever. There are also great-nieces and nephews who remember especially, the card tricks. The Story of Joe was passed on to only one other person, his daughter, Cheryl. Don passed away Wednesday, November 15, 2006, at St. Anthony's Hospital, The Pas, aged 57 years, after a courageous battle to live. Don leaves behind a family who will cherish memories of his humour and his love of life. Don leaves behind his soul mate, best friend, and wife of 16 years, Dianne; his mother Leona; his two children, Murray and Cheryl (Al) of Salmon Arm, BC; two step-children, Mark (Rose) and Veronica. Also left to remember Papa are Kaitlyn, Krystal, Randi and Joshua; three sisters, Margo (Mike), Glenda, Louise (George); three brothers, Peter, Bruce (Linda), Roy (Mary); and all his very special nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews. Don was predeceased by his dad Glen; his grandmother Meme; brother-in-law Pidy; sister-in-law Carol; niece Sandy; several aunts and uncles; father-in-law Douglas Bagley; and in May of this year he lost his buddy, Cchord, who was with him each and very time the knapsack came out and they headed to Bainbridge Mountain. According to Don's wishes a private family service will be held Friday, November 24 at 2:00 p.m. at Hemauer Funeral Home, The Pas, with James Hemauer presiding. Honorary pallbearers: Dug Robinson, Lenny McLeod, Don Dorma, Dennis Koss, Dennis Brownlee, Ed Klimchuk, Murray Anderson, Dave Zaharia and all Don's friends, too numerous to mention. Following the interment prayers at Lakeside Cemetery, a time of fellowship will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion, The Pas. If friends so desire, donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 200 - 310 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB R3C 0S6, or to the Lennox Bell Lodge Foundation, 4th Floor - 60 Pearl St., Winnipeg, MB R3E 1X2, would be appreciated by Don's family. Hemauer Funeral Home, The Pas, Manitoba, in care of arrangements.
