SYLVIA EDNA TILSTON - JONES (nee BEATTY) June 13, 1920 - November 21, 2006 Peacefully after a lengthy illness Sylvia passed away on November 21, 2006 at the Grace General Hospital. Sylvia was predeceased by her husband W. Harold; sisters, Dorothy and Marjorie; brother Fredrick. She will be remembered by her son Trevor (Evelyn); granddaughters, Treva (Murray), Trisha (Scott), Tannis (Wade) and Toni; great-grandchildren Dane, Owen and Sydney. Sylvia was married to Harold for 46 years and in the early years they co-owned weekly newspapers in Alberta and Saskatchewan. She also worked for Montreal Trust, Winnipeg Tribune, and was a Real Estate Agent. Mom's sense of humour was her best trait especially with her granddaughters and their husbands. Practical jokes and good-natured fun delighted family at special occasions. Mom was very competitive especially in her card games (Gin Rummy) and she loved to watch baseball and tennis with her son Trevor. In her early years mom was an avid painter and her paintings adorn our house, and will be a lasting memory of her. The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Ian Maharaj, and the staff of the Grace General Hospital and homecare workers especially Sheila for their help in caring for mom in her time of need. A graveside service will be held on Friday, November 24, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Remembrances may be made to the Manitoba Lung Association, 629 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3A 1P6.
