RONALD COLEMAN CAMPBELL 1927 - 2006 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father and grandfather, Ronald Coleman Campbell, who passed away on Sunday, November 19, 2006 after a courageous battle with cancer, at the Seven Oaks Hospital. Remaining to cherish his memory are his daughter Brenda Spooner (Richard), grandson Elliott, his son Richie Campbell (Jeanna); grandsons David, J. J. and Angus; daughter-in-law Elaine Campbell; granddaughter Carly and grandson Adam; brother-in-law Harold Flannery and nephew Rob Flannery, both of Vancouver Island and niece Connie Campbell of New York. He was predeceased by his brother, our Uncle Bob of Seattle, Washington in 1994; our brother Geoff, July 24, 2000 and his wife of 51 years, our mom Audrey Lenore (nee Flannery) August 16, 2003. Ronald was born in Winnipeg at the Misericordia Hospital on February 19, 1927. He was raised in the downtown area of Winnipeg; attended Hugh John McDonald School, but had to leave to go to work. Ronald was a bicycle delivery driver for various companies; Shenkarow's Drug Store, Wilson Stationary and Paulin Chambers where he made war time biscuits for soldiers. It was shortly after that he joined the army in 1944. He took his basic training in Saskatoon, and then went to Woodstock, Ontario where he took a driving course and then moved to Simcoe, Ontario for further training. He was stationed there until September 1945 when the war ended and then returned to Winnipeg. During this time he worked for several companies including Coca-Cola. Dad and Mom left Winnipeg to move to Vancouver for one and a half years, returning to Winnipeg in 1950, which remained their home, and married in 1952. They lived in the West End, St. Vital, Transcona, and lastly East St. Paul, where they lived for the rest of their lives. He worked for the C.P.R. as a long distance driver for 35 years until he retired in November of 1985. He enjoyed his earlier retirement travelling, and delivering School Buses, Transit Buses and Highway Buses across Canada and the United States, taking in beautiful scenery and doing what he loved best which was to drive. The rest of their retirement years were spent together travelling, woodworking, gardening, listening to music, reading, spending time with family and friends in their home, as well as meeting friends at the Legion. Dad was a 25 year member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 215 (Color Guard). Dad will sadly be missed by family and friends. It makes it easier knowing he is reunited with Mom and Geoff. In compliance with our Father's wishes, no formal service will be held. The family would like to thank the many people who provided care and comfort to our father. A special thank you to Dr. Mark Kristjanson of Seven Oaks Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ronald's memory may be made to CancerCare Manitoba., 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9.
