DIXON November 28, 1921 - November 20, 2006 It is with great sadness and regret that we announce the sudden passing of Geoff Dixon, beloved husband, father and grandfather on Monday, November 20, 2006 at the Health Sciences Centre. Geoff will be greatly missed by Verna, his loving wife of 62 years, daughter Susan Dee of Victoria, BC, daughter Diane Dixon, son-in-law Kevin McCulloch and grandsons Geoffrey and Jonathan McCulloch. He is also survived by his sister Joyce Moody (Jack) of Medicine Hat, AB and his brother Lloyd Dixon (Bev) of Victoria, BC, as well as his nieces and nephews. He is also survived by brother-in-law Murray Neill (Joan) and family. He was predeceased by his sister Freda Scheurwater of Regina. Geoff was born in Wauchope, Saskatchewan and received his schooling in Arcola, Saskatchewan where he also worked in the newspaper office. He moved to Winnipeg in 1941. Geoff and Verna met in 1942 and they married on Christmas Eve 1944. Geoff worked in the printing business for 45 years, retiring in 1986. Geoff was an active member of the Winnipeg's west end, volunteering for many years at Isaac Brock Community Club where he coached hockey, baseball and while his daughters were growing up, chaperoned the teen dances. He was active in the Boy Scout organization and taught Sunday school for many years. He enjoyed many years as a member of Toastmasters International. Geoff was an avid curler for many years continuing into his retirement. He had a life long interest in politics, serving as councilor for Sargent Park ward on City of Winnipeg Council from 1971 to 1977. Geoff was a talented artist and his oil paintings hang in many cities throughout the world. He was a past president and life member of the St. James Art Club. In lieu of flowers, donations in Geoff's memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to a charity of your choice. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2006 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue with reception to follow.
