WILLIAM (BILL) TERECK Peacefully, surrounded by his family, Bill passed away November 22, 2006 at Seven Oaks Hospital. Bill was predeceased by his brother John in 1993; his sister Eva Smith in 2003; his sister Kay Kuzyk in 2002 and his sister Ollie Hendricks in October of 2006. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Kay; their children, Dan (Linda), Karen (Randy Koroscil) and Gord (Susan); eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; one brother Peter (Amy), many extended family members and friends. Bill was born in February of 1921 in Glenella, Manitoba where he went to school and worked on the family farm. He joined the Army in 1942, went overseas in 1944 and received his discharge in 1946. He met the love of his life, Kay, at the Paris Restaurant in Winnipeg in 1946. They were married in 1948 and moved into their new house where they resided together for the past 58 years. Bill worked in construction from 1947 to 1949, then at Standard Dairies as a milkman. He joined Winnipeg Transit in 1952 driving streetcars and buses. He worked with the city for 34 years, retiring in 1986. Bill loved to bowl taking part in leagues for the past 40 years, mostly at St. John's Cantius and Billy Mosienko Lanes, where he had many friends. In addition to bowling he also passed his love of music down to his children. Bill was also an avid and lucky card player, usually on the winning team of our many card games. Dad (Gigi) was well known to be easy-going, constantly smiling, a great storyteller and an excellent listener. He was always there when needed and was an incredible role model to all his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dad was a loving husband to our Mom and they could be seen walking the neighbourhood hand-in-hand virtually every day. The family wishes to thank the physicians and staff at CancerCare Manitoba, the Palliative Care Program, Dr. N. Hechtenthal and the 5th floor staff at Seven Oaks Hospital for all their support, care and compassion. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 25, 2006, 3:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers donations in Bill's memory may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, ON1160, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB. Arrangements entrusted to: Glen Eden Funeral Home 4477 Main St. 338-7111
