GLADYS BENSON Gladys Benson, aged 101, passed away peacefully on November 16, 2006 at New Vista Personal Care Home in Burnaby, BC. Gladys was predeceased by her loving husband Olie, her parents Henry and Ellen Nelson, her sister Hazel McDonald and her brother Lloyd Nelson. She is survived by nephew Duane Nelson (Shirley) of Winnipeg, niece June Ward (Dave) of Winnipeg, and nephew Daniel McDonald (Brenda) of Santa Monica. Gladys was born in Missouri on May 12, 1905. Her family moved to Oak Bluff, MB in the early 1900s where she was raised and educated. She married Olie in 1944 and shortly after moved to British Columbia where they settled in Burnaby. She was an avid traveller and would fondly recount the many stories of her trips. Gladys formed many friendships through bingo and card games, both of which she enjoyed until the last few years. She was a happy and engaging individual to whom people were drawn. Her sharp wit and ready laugh will be missed by her family and friends. Thanks to Trish and the 2nd floor staff at New Vista and a special thanks to her close friend Dora Herald. Cremation will take place without any service as requested by Gladys.
