Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryE. HOPE COLLIER (nee STEPHENSON) Peacefully on Wednesday, November 22, 2006 at her home at the MacGregor Health Centre, MacGregor, MB, E. Hope Collier, widow of the late Richard Alfred Collier, passed away at the age of 93 years. A celebration of Hope's life will be held in the MacGregor United Church on Wednesday, November 29 at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Marg Scott officiating. Interment will take place at 11:00 a.m. in Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Portage la Prairie, MB. Friends and family are invited to meet at the funeral home at 10:45 a.m. to proceed to the cemetery. Elsie Isabelle Hope was born on October 10, 1913, daughter of Thomas and Clarinda Stephenson in the Arizona district, where she was raised and received her elementary education. She attended high school at Sidney. She received her teaching certificate in 1933. She taught school at Forestville, Kennedy, Seaburn and South End schools. In 1947 she married Dick Collier and they farmed at South End until her husbands' passing in 1958. She then returned to her teaching career. She taught school at Melvin and after 15 years at the MacGregor elementary school she retired in 1978. Hope was a member of the MacGregor United Church and a member of W.M.S. and later the U.C.W. She was an active member of the Southern Schemers Hospital Aid serving the MacGregor Health Centre, the seniors MacGregor Get Together Club, the Manitoba Teachers Society and the MacGregor Recreation Association where she assisted in arranging the judging of the Home and Grounds awards. Hope had a keen interest in flowers and enjoyed growing Lilies, Irises, Gladiolas, Amaryllis along with Sweetpeas. During the summer months and after her retirement she enjoyed travelling to Germany, England, Scotland, Arizona, Tahiti, Hawaii, Alaska and the Maritimes. The Stephenson family reunion has taken Hope to many locations in Western Canada. Predeceased by her husband Richard in 1958; four brothers, William (Will), Christopher (Kit), Robert (Bob) and Jack (J.R.); 10 sisters, Elizabeth (Lizzie) Shaw, Mary Johansen, Hannah Bradley, Sarah Butler, Ellen (Nellie) Smith, Jane Phillips, Rose Lyons, Grace Anderson, Anne Hay and Eunice in infancy. She leaves to mourn her passing, sister-in-law Barbara Stephenson of Carberry, nieces, nephews and their families across Canada. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the North Norfolk MacGregor Foundation, P.O. Box 696, MacGregor, MB R0H 0R0 or the Quiet Room at the MacGregor Personal Care Home, P.O.
