EDWARD OSCAR REICHERT 1911 - 2006 On Friday, November 17, 2006 at his residence at Tabor Home in Morden, Ed Reichert aged 95 years peacefully went to his eternal rest. Left to treasure his memories are his wife of 64 years, Margaret (nee Alsop) of Morden; two daughters, Carol and Gerry Williams of Winnipeg, Sherril and Gary Guthrie of Abbotsford, BC; three sons, Clifford and Roseanne of Gimli, Raymond of Winnipeg, Doug and Anna of Calgary, AB; one daughter-in-law, Deane Reichert of Morden; 10 grandchildren, Douglas, Shauna, Sean, Monica, Darren, Lori, Travis, Tanya, Beau and Maria; nine great-grandchildren; three sisters, Elsie Stambuski, Lily Unger, Edna Unger; two brothers, Howard Reichert and Russ Reichert and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, William (Bill) in 2003; parents, William and Theresa (nee Riehl) Reichert and brothers, Clifford, Cecil, John, George and Bobby Reichert. Dad was born in Thornhill, MB to local farmers, William and Theresa who immigrated from Austria. He attended normal school and went on to teach at a one-room school in Thornhill for one year. Dad still had his heart set on going into business so he started driving a truck, hauling mostly grain for local farmers and gravel for road construction. Eventually, he managed to save enough money to purchase what would become the Morden Tire Shop a place where local farmers, families and businesses received friendly service for over 25 years. In his own quiet way, dad was a loyal community supporter through donations and his support. He enjoyed playing pool at the Friendship Centre and going for coffee downtown with the guys. Dad's much loved pastimes included boating on Lake Minnewasta, fishing trips with his sons and buddies, skidoo trips, motor homing to various destinations and sitting on his deck watching the many species of birds in the backyard. Dad was a quiet man who always had a zest for life and a wonderful smile. His favourite line was I'm working on living to be 100. Mother and his family always came first. We're gonna miss you, dad! A private family service was held at Wiebe Funeral Chapel in Morden on Monday, November 20 at 11:00 am. with Rev. Morris Vincent officiating. Interment followed at Chapel Cemetery. The family would like to thank the nursing staff and doctors of Tabor Home and Boundary Trails Health Centre for their excellent care and thoughtfulness. Donations may be made in Ed's memory to either Tabor Home Memorial Fund, 230 9th St. South Morden, MB R6M 1Y3 or to a charity of one's choice.
