MINNIE DRABCHUK (nee CHAWRUN) It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of our beloved wife, mother, sister and Baba, Minnie on Wednesday, November 22, 2006 age 76 at the St. Boniface Hospital. Minnie leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband of 48 years Peter, son Ron (Johnanne); daughter Elaine (Dan) and her greatest pride and joy her grandchildren, Nicholas, Deanna, Christopher and Michelle; sisters Mary, Anne, Rose, Emily, Jean, Helen and brother Bill (Val). She was predeceased by her parents John and Cassie, brother Mike and sister Alice. Minnie was born in the small village of Ukraina, MB where they farmed and later moved to Dauphin where she worked at various jobs waitressing. In her mid-twenties, Minnie moved to Winnipeg where she met the love of her life Peter at the Rainbow Dance Gardens. They married in 1958 and raised two children. Minnie was always a cheerful and happy person who was loved by anyone who knew her. She was well known in the neighbourhood for her homemade cinnamon buns and perogies and loved having the ladies over for coffee. Minnie enjoyed Saturday nights dancing at the UNF Club, 141 Legion and getting together with friends and family. Many weekends were spent camping, fishing and berry picking. Many times she returned to Dauphin to attend weddings, anniversaries, family gatherings and the Ukrainian Festival. Later in life, Minnie decided to rejoin the work force and worked at various part-time jobs, finally working for the Winnipeg School Division. At that time she was involved in a car/pedestrian accident and required years of rehabilitation. With her strong will and determination, and the devoted care of her husband Peter, she enjoyed her retirement years. Minnie travelled on numerous trips to Hawaii, Palm Springs, the Maritimes and California. She was also just as happy to play solitaire and sit on the deck enjoying summer. The greatest pleasure for Minnie, were her four grandchildren who brought her such happiness and joy. She especially enjoyed many hours playing cards and faithfully giving them a loonie on each and every visit. Goodbye our precious wife, mother, Baba and sister. We will miss you and will always be thankful to God that He blessed us by being able to enjoy your smile for another 17 years after your accident. Till we meet again... Prayers will be held on Sunday, November 26 at 8:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel. 1442 Main St. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at their church where they were members for many years on Monday, November 27 at 1:00 p.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, 390 Marion St. with Rev. Fr. Ivan Mostivsky officiating. Interment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery. Reception after the interment at Cropo Funeral Chapel. If friends so desire, donations may be made in memory of Minnie to the Heart Stroke Foundation. VICHNAYA PAMYAT CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
