LOIS ANN MacKENZIE (nee FINES) Surrounded by her loving family, Lois MacKenzie passed away peacefully at her residence on November 23, 2006. Lois is survived by her mother Edna Fines; daughters, Shari (Dave), Roshelle (Joe); grandsons, Cameron and Bryce; brothers, Gordon (Linda) and Greg; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. She was predeceased by her husband Ross MacKenzie; father Lloyd Fines; father and mother-in-law Alex and Vivian MacKenzie. Lois was born on August 28, 1946 to Lloyd and Edna Fines. She was raised on the family farm and went to school in Balmoral and Stonewall. After high school she became a teacher and taught elementary grades. She married Ross MacKenzie and they resided in Balmoral. When her first daughter was born she quit teaching to devote her life to raising her family. Everything Lois did was for the benefit of her family. When she wasn't running her daughters to the ball diamond, arena or dancing lessons, she liked to curl, bonspiel, play ringette and attend dances at the Balmoral Hall. She eventually returned to teaching at Balmoral Elementary School which she thoroughly enjoyed. After illness forced her to retire she was very open to trying new things like painting, square dancing, stained glass and yoga with her buddies. Lois found great joy spending time with her grandsons. Cam and gramma had a very special bond and they always had lots of fun together. A prayer service will be held on Sunday, November 26 at 7:30 p.m. at the MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Stonewall. Funeral service will be held on Monday, November 27 at 11:00 a.m. at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Stonewall. Interment will be held at Victoria Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations in memory of Lois may be made to the Balmoral United Church or Southwest District Palliative Care.
