JEANNETTE LANTHIER 1911 - 2006 On Tuesday November 21, 2006, Jeannette Lanthier passed away at Taché Centre at the age of 95 years. Jeannette was born March 14, 1911, in Cobalt, Ontario, the youngest daughter of Napoléon and Anna Lanthier. Soon after her birth, she moved to Manitoba with her family. She completed high school at the Grey Nun's Convent in Ste. Anne, Manitoba and attended Normal School in Winnipeg. She taught school for 11 years. Jeannette then went to work for the federal government in the Department of Immigration and later for Manpower. Highlights of her career included postings in Cairo, Egypt and Montreal. Following her retirement in 1974, Jeannette volunteered at Taché Nursing Centre for many years, and she was a member of the choir at Précieux-Sang Parish. Jeannette was predeceased by her brothers Joe, Paul, Leo and Will; her sisters Lauretta Gauthier, Emilie Mann, Mary Lanthier, Anne Wendon and Alda LeBlanc. She is survived by one sister-in-law Esther Lanthier in Stonewall, MB; numerous nieces and nephews and their families, and also, many loving friends. Special thanks to the staff at Taché Centre for their care and attention. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that you make a donation to a charity of your choice. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 28 at Précieux-Sang Roman Catholic Church, 200 Kenny Street, with Father Maurice Jeanneau presiding. Interment of the cremated remains will follow at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. The Desjardins Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements, 233-4949 or 1-888-233-4949.
