DOROTHY AGNES LLOYD On November 19, 2006, Dorothy passed away at her home on Palmerston Avenue, Winnipeg. She is survived by her sister Margaret (Peggy) Ellen Henry of Toronto and her nieces and nephews Graham T. Lloyd of Winnipeg, Judith E. Nelson of Milton, Ontario, David L. Henry of Toronto, Patricia I. Potts of Beecroft, NSW, Australia, Joan D. Crookston of Toronto and Roberta L. Stortz of Hamilton. Her parents Dorothy and Sydney Lloyd, her brother Robert Lloyd and her nephew Jim Lloyd predeceased her. Dorothy, as was her family before her, was a great supporter of the Canadian Amateur Swimming Association, having served as treasurer of the Association for a number of years. She was an avid swimmer and supporter of the Aquatic Hall of Fame and Museum of Canada. She was born in Southfield, England, on July 13, 1911, and resided in the family home all her life on Palmerston Avenue, Winnipeg. Dot contracted polio in the epidemic that swept through Winnipeg in the late 1920s and fought through adversity for nearly 80 years with determination and tenacity. She loved swimming, was an artist, and loved her cats. The Executors of the Estate are her sister Margaret Ellen Henry and Vaughan L. Baird, QC, of Sainte-Agathe. A memorial service will be held at St. Margaret's Anglican Church, NE Ethelbert and Westminster Avenue, Winnipeg, on Wednesday, November 29, 2006, at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation to The Winnipeg Humane Society would be welcome.

Dorothy made my life so much richer. Weenie Bear always gave me a run for my money. I shall miss Dorothy. She was a great, wonderful, warm person. MJ Willard, DVM, MD - Posted by: Dr MJ Willard (Friend) on: Feb 28, 2007
