Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHANUBEER SAWH It is with deep sadness we announce the sudden passing of Hanubeer Sawh. Born in Windsor Forest, Guyana on May 6, 1938 and passed away in Winnipeg, MB on November 25, 2006. Hanubeer is lovingly remembered by his wife of 33 years, Mahadia (Dai) (nee Beharry); son Rabindra (Davita), daughter Sharmilla (Vihar), son Rajendra; grandchildren, Sasha and Nicholas. Son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Mohabeer Sawh; son-in-law of Paul Beharry and the late Parboti Beharry, all of Windsor Forest, Guyana. Predeceased by his four brothers, Raghubeer, Sukhbeer, Santabeer and Chandrabeer and sister-in-law Mintra. Survived by sister Betty Surajlall; brother Balobeer Sawh (Edna) and sister Rukhmin Ramrattan. Also cherishing his memory are brother-in-law Maxi Beharry (Pat); sisters-in-law, Latchmin, the late Mintra, Jasmine (Kalam), Dularie (Johnny), Monzo (Omar), Lucille (George), Vijai, Leila, Lilsavitri (Shawn), Latchmin Sawh and Patricia Sawh. He will be missed by his many nieces and nephews especially Dr. Moti Lall and Gerry Jacobus. Hanubeer will be missed by his numerous friends from the Guyanese and cricketing community in Winnipeg and Guyana, especially his life-long friends, Feroze Khan, Basil Persaud and Ramesh Ajodhia. Hanubeer grew up in Windsor Forest, West Coast Demarara. He graduated from Richard Ishmael Secondary School. Hanubeer learned the values of hard work from his family. As a teenager, along with his five brothers they worked in the family owned rice mills. Hanubeer moved on to work for Demba Bauxite Company just before he left for Canada. Although he left Guyana, his love and respect for Guyanese values was always with him. He made certain that his children, nieces and nephews always held their Guyanese heritage and values in high regard. Hanubeer immigrated to Canada from Guyana in 1968. He was truly the pioneer of the Guyanese Community. In his early years in Canada, Hanubeer was instrumental in bringing the Guyanese community together through cricket and social activities. The roots of the Guyanese community are with Hanubeer. He was a founding member of two prominent cricket clubs in Manitoba, Lions and Cosmos in the 1970s. Hanubeer was also a founding member of the Guyanese Association of Manitoba. From an early age Hanubeer was a very talented cricketer, in Guyana he was captain of the Kashmir Cricket Club and was one of their top scorer of runs. As a cricketer in Winnipeg, Hanubeer is fondly remembered as a prolific and entertaining batsman, a hitter of sixes'. His contribution to the sport is everlasting, especially to Cosmos Sports Club. As a community leader he did not care for recognition and honors, but was known as the person that made things happen. Hanubeer will be remembered as a dedicated employee with a very high work ethic. He worked for over 10 years at Humpty Dumpty Foods and 20 years with Great West Life. He was as a hard working person who ensured that the job got done with integrity and professionalism. Hanubeer is well known for his generosity and willingness to help others. He gladly welcomed new immigrants into his home as they arrived in Canada, providing for them as they started their lives in a new country. His home was always open and welcoming. He was a loving and devoted husband and father. He and his wife ensured a good life for their family, always putting their well-being ahead of everything else. Hanubeer instilled high values in his children and ensured that they could depend on him for anything During his children's school years he was home everyday for lunch with them and was there to pick them up after school. As a husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend Hanubeer is and always will be dearly cherished, sadly missed and joyfully remembered.
