Fergie and Irene were our backyard neighbours and we admired them greatly. Few people of the younger generation understand what women like Irene had to go through during the Second World War. Gordon was overseas for years while Irene was left to tend the family farm and get by. Yet, while we knew them later, she was never without a smile. Irene was the most cheerful person we knew. - Posted by: Jane and Gary Nickel (Friend) on: Dec 02, 2006
