Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPETER KARPISH April 29, 1923 - November 10, 2006 Peter Karpish passed away as a result of a tragic accident on Friday, November 10, 2006. He was predeceased by his wife Jean (Genevieve) and leaves to mourn his sister Jean Harrisko of Winnipeg. Peter's working life was spent as a Customs Officer with Canada Customs and Immigration. He served his country as a member of the Royal Canadian Navy for four years. He was a longtime member of the Downtown YMCA where he trained and competed in Powerlifting and weightlifting. He was a member of the Manitoba Weightlifting Association and the Canadian Weightlifting Federation. He served as a coach at the provincial level and as a certified national referee and officiated at several national championships. Peter was also an avid photographer, as well as a videographer. He was a feisty individual and had strong views on a variety of topics. He enjoyed the company of close friends, luncheons and the camaraderie of get-togethers. In his retirement years, Peter got hooked on the sport of golf and when he wasn't out playing, he was watching it on the TV. His favourite meeting place, the Thunderbird, will not be the same now that Peter has reached the 19th hole. Left to cherish his memory, many nephews, a niece and caring friends, Joe Boyko, Al Atamanchuk and John Silverman. According to his wishes, cremation has taken place and no services will be held.
