Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLIAM (BILL) JOHNSON January 14, 1921 November 27, 2006 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother. On Monday Bill passed away at the Victoria Hospital. He is lovingly remembered by his wife Margaret of 65 years. Predeceased by his parents, William and Rose Johnson, brother Andy, son Terry, daughter Maureen. Loving father of Susan Johnson; Rosalynn (George) Leighton; Lori Grapentine; Andy (Kim) Johnson and son-in-law Tim (Renee) Martin. Proud grandfather of Shane (Kim) Leighton; Craig, Brent Martin; Eric, Leanne Grapentine; Kathryn, Nicole, Amanda and Matthew Johnson. Great-grandfather of Tyler and Jessica Leighton. He is survived by his sisters Rose, Dorothy, Pat, Evelyn, Louise, Thelma, Shirley, sister-in-law Evelyn Johnson and their families. Bill was born and raised in Winnipeg. In 1942 he joined the Canadian military and served with the South Alberta Regiment. After training in England he served in France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. Upon returning from the war he raised his family in St. Vital and worked at the C.N.R. until his retirement in 1982. Once retired Bill and Marg enjoyed their trips to California and numerous other locations. Bill loved sports and his favourite pastime was bowling. He will always be remembered for his sense of humour and teasing ways. Cremation has taken place, following his wishes no service will be held. The family would like to thank the staff at Golden Links Lodge Special Care Unit and Victoria Hospital for the care and compassion they showed Bill while in their care. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to Golden Links Lodge or Alzheimer Society of Manitoba. Rest in peace Dad.
