MILLIE DIANNE MCQUADE (nee KOSTYNYK) October 26, 1947 - November 28, 2006 Peacefully with her family by her side, Millie McQuade passed away on Tuesday, November 28, 2006 at the St. Boniface Hospital after a lengthy and courageous battle with ovarian cancer. Remaining to mourn her loss are her loving husband George; son Scott (Jennifer) of Tallahassee, Florida; her dear parents Nellie and Mike Kostynyk of Steinbach; sister Elaine (Morris) Werbeniuk of Winnipeg; brothers Tim Kostynyk of Toronto and Amel (Lorna) Kostynyk of Winnipeg. She will also be missed by her mother-in-law Kay Sigurdson; brothers and sisters-in-law, Dave (Adrienne) McQuade, Mel (Rosalie) McQuade; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends, in particular her childhood friend of 55 years, Pat Chabot/Wepruk of Beacons Field, Quebec. Millie grew up in Sundown, Manitoba. She married George in July 1971 and they moved to Dugald in July 1974. Their son Scott was born in May 1975 and Millie was a stay at home mom for 11 years. She enjoyed many family vacations throughout Canada and the USA, especially Florida and Oklahoma. She liked baking, reading, dancing, doing jumbles, playing cards and chatting on the telephone. Millie worked for nearly 20 years as a teacher's aide, most recently at Wayoata Elementary School in Transcona. She was a kind and caring individual who liked spending time with family and friends. Special holidays and family gatherings were cherished times for Millie; she never forgot a birthday or anniversary . She looked forward to the Breakfast Club every month and also her support groups. Millie loved life and lived it to the fullest. In keeping with Millie's wishes, there will be no formal funeral service held. Thank you to family, friends, and co-workers for their many acts of kindness to Millie and George during her illness. Heartfelt thanks are extended to Dr. R. Lotocki, Denise Campbell, Patti Findlay, and all the staff at Cancer Care, St. Boniface Unit and the staff of Unit 3B in St. Boniface Hospital. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Millie's memory to NOCA (National Ovarian Cancer Association) 101-145 Front Street East, Toronto, Ontario M5A 1E3. In tears we saw you sinking, We watched you fade away, You suffered much in silence, You fought so hard to stay. God saw you getting tired, When a cure was not to be, So He put His arms around you, And whispered, Come with Me. Millie's arrangements have been entrusted to the Family Owned Funeral Chapel of: WOJCIK'S ALL BELIEFS FAITHS FUNERAL CHAPEL CREMATORIUM 897 - 4665
