HERBERT GRANT It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our father, grandfather, brother, friend. Herb passed away at the age of 76 on November 30, 2006. Herb will be greatly missed by his daughter Heather (Dale); son Kelly (Shelagh) (Andrew); and his grandchild Shayla; his brother Gary; other family and friends. Herb was predeceased by the love of his life Lorraine in 2002 after 43 years of marriage. Our father was often referred to as a gentle giant, a quiet soft-spoken man who enjoyed the simple things in life. His family came first and with them he enjoyed camping, a game of golf, betting the horses at Assiniboia Downs, and curling to name a few. Dad was born and raised in Winnipeg and resided in St. James after his marriage to raise his family. After numerous jobs, Dad began his career as a floor coverer with the Hudson Bay Company until he decided to branch out on his own which he did until his retirement. Dad was a huge fan of most sports and in his later years you would always find him channel surfing trying to find the next exciting game to watch. He had a passion for dogs and had one his whole life, losing his last best friend Brandy in March of 2006. Special thanks to the staff of GD4 Health Sciences Centre for their compassionate care that they provided our father and our family. At Herb's request, cremation and a private family service will take place. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the United Way of Winnipeg or Heart and Stroke in his memory.
