HENRY FLOYD (BICK) BICKFORD After a brief illness, Floyd passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2006 at the St. Boniface Hospital, Palliative Care Unit at the age of 73 years. Remaining to cherish his memory are his wife Stella; daughter Elaine of Winnipeg; son Paul of Calgary, AB; sister Helen Elizabeth Butcher of Winnipeg, and brother and sister-in-law Greg and Verna Lamb of the The Pas, MB, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Harry and Tannis Bickford. Floyd was born in the The Pas, MB on June 2, 1933 and grew up with a love of hunting and fishing. He held many summer jobs in the mining and drilling industry up north while attending the Old Red Brick School and later attended United College in Winnipeg. Floyd and Stella married on September 1, 1958 and settled in Winnipeg where they raised their family. He was employed with Texaco Canada Ltd., and later with Imperial Oil, where he worked as an aircraft refueller until his retirement. A close relationship was always maintained with his friends from the north and Floyd spent many happy summers at the family cottage at Clearwater Lake where he enjoyed observing wildlife and nature. Floyd was a man of great integrity and worked hard all his life. His greatest love was his family and he was always concerned with being a good provider for all of them. In accordance with Floyd's wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. If friends so desire, the family requests that donations in Floyd's memory may be made to the St. Boniface Hospital and Research Foundation, D1003 409 Tache Avenue, Winnipeg, MB, R2H 2A6, or to a charity of one's choice.
