EVA (BLANKSTEIN) DOLGIN Eva Dolgin passed away quietly at the St. Boniface Hospital on November 29, 2006 at the age of 97. She was predeceased by her husband of 51 years, Joe, in 1983. She is survived by two brothers, Fred ( Ingy ) (and Pearl), and Morley (and Marjorie) Blankstein, as well as daughter Maxine Gilman; sons, Marc (AC) and Avi (Ruth). Her nine grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews will all remember her lovingly as their Gramma Eva or GE . Eva was born in 1909 in Winnipeg to Max and Lena Blankstein. She graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1932 from the Winnipeg General Hospital where she worked before devoting herself to raising her family, and then again until retirement. She was active in the community, having served as President of the Rosh Pina Sisterhood, and participating in many social charities. She was an avid curler, bowler and painter, and loved to dance well into her nineties. The funeral took place at the Shaarey Zedek Synagogue on Friday, December 1 with interment at the Rosh Pina Cemetery. Her pallbearers were her grandchildren, Michael, Deborah, Stuart, Laurence Gilman, Ben and Jeremy Dolgin and her great-grandson Noah Gilman. We appreciate the warm and attentive support she enjoyed at the Simkin Centre and extend a special thanks to her companions Paula and Rosie. We are also grateful for the sensitive care she received from Dr. Guzman and the Vascular Unit staff at the St. Boniface Hospital. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Sharon Home, the Technion, the Jewish Foundation or the charity of your choice.
