IRENE PHYLLIS KOPP (nee SCHADE) Peacefully on December 1, 2006 at the Lakeshore General Hospital, Irene Phyllis Kopp, aged 80 years of Ashern, MB. Irene was born February 13, 1926 in the Kiesman District and she attended the Kiesman School. On November 10, 1950, she married Edward Kopp at the Peace Lutheran Church in Moosehorn, MB. They were later blessed with the birth of a son Barry. Eddie and Irene moved to Winnipeg where she worked as a cleaner and helped maintain the apartment buildings and houses that Eddie purchased in the city. They belonged to the Lutheran Church of the Cross. Irene enjoyed travelling to such places as Mexico, Germany, and Hawaii, camping at their cottage at Victoria Beach, and camping in the Ashern area. In 2003 Irene and her son moved to Ashern. Irene's home was always open for relatives to visit and you never left her home hungry. Irene leaves to mourn one son Barry; three sisters, Helen Meisner, Evelyn Fenning, and Margaret Semler, also many nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Eddie on September 9, 1996; a daughter in infancy; her parents Otillie and Ludwig; brothers, Henry, John, Alfred and Elmer; sisters, Emma, Freda and Dorothy. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 7, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. in the Grace Lutheran Church in Ashern, MB with Pastor Nancy Walker officiating. Viewing at the church prior to the service. A luncheon will follow the service in the Ashern Legion Hall. A graveside service will follow at Brookside Cemetery in Winnipeg, MB at 3:30 p.m. Pallbearers will be Alvin Kopp, Wayne Ruchotzke, Ron Schade, Thor Halgren, Otto Kopp, and Corwin Shabaga.
