VERNON ARTHUR WILLEY February 15, 1918 - December 2, 2006 On Saturday, December 2, 2006 our dear father, grandfather, and great-grandfather Vernon Willey passed away peacefully at the Stonewall Hospital. Vernon was born February 15, 1918 at Birnie, Manitoba. He served in the Royal Canadian Navy where he learned his carpenter trade which he pursued in Bowsman until he accepted a position as an architect for Ministry of Transport in Winnipeg and northern points until retirement, then moving to Stonewall. He enjoyed camping, fishing, farming, spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Vernon was predeceased by his wife Wilma in 1993. He will be sadly missed by one daughter Marlene and husband Dennis Riehl of Arnes; and one son Blaine and his wife Judy of Stonewall; five grandchildren, Rhonda and husband Kerry Laferriere, Bruce Riehl (Venise), Robert Riehl (Karen), Damon Willey (Kari), and Ryan Willey (Christine); seven great-grandchildren, Kelly and Danielle Laferriere, Kaitlin and Kennedy Riehl, Aaron Riehl, Nathan and Keira Willey; two sisters, Alberta Boles and Gertie (Tommy) Rhodes; two brothers-in-law, Mervyn (Jean) Alexander and Calvin (Shirley) Alexander. Also many nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held Thursday, December 7, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Stonewall. Interment will be held later in 2007 at Swan River, MB. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. MacKenzie Funeral Home in Stonewall in care of arrangements.
