MELVIN LORNE WEISS Following a lengthy illness, Melvin Weiss passed away peacefully on December 2, 2006 at the Neepawa Health Centre. Mel was born on February 3, 1937 at Emerson, MB. He was predeceased by his parents Johnny and Elsie (Schultz). He is survived by Mary (Illek), his wife of 48 years, and their children, Tamara Cannon (Patrick) and Todd (Barb Banting). He will be lovingly remembered by his granddaughters, Beth, Josie and Abby; his brother Dennis (Virginia); his sisters, Betty (Glen) Wilkinson, Evelyn McJannet, Doris Taylor, Shirley, Linda (John) Mulliner, Lil (Gord) Merry, Lorraine Walker and Wendy; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Mel grew up in Dominion City. He worked with the provincial government at the Department of Natural Resources for 38 years and on his retirement continued to work with Whitemud Watershed and Hugh Munro Construction. His work took him throughout the province where he made many friends, acquaintances and memories. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to all friends and family who helped us through this difficult time. Special thanks go to the staff of the hospitals at Neepawa and Brandon for their dedicated and compassionate care. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. at the Neepawa United Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Neepawa District Palliative Care Service, Box 1240, Neepawa, MB R0J 1H0 or Brandon Regional Health Centre, 140 Mctavish Ave., Brandon, MB R7A 2B3.
