Born: Aug 30, 1915
Date of Passing: Nov 30, 2006
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLI HASSENRUECK August 30, 1915 - November 30, 2006 Peacefully, on November 30, 2006 at Concordia Hospital, our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed into glory. He is survived by his wife Frieda, with whom he shared 58 years of marriage; his children, Ted (Margarete), Elsie (Doug), Wally, Elenore (Wilmer); 10 grandchildren, Carolyn, Teryl (Frank), Nigel, Arlene (Brent), Elenore (James), Arthur, Willi Joe, Tim, Amara, and Kira; and two great-grandchildren, Kamen and Thomas. Willi was born on August 30, 1915, in Bodrie, Poland. After enduring many years of hardship during the Second World War, including separation from Frieda, they were reunited in the refugee camp at Gronau, Germany where they were married on April 18, 1948. They immigrated to Canada in 1949, and settled in Winnipeg, where their four children were born. Willi was a faithful employee of Wiens Motors and Motor Sales, working as a mechanic for many years. He enjoyed his work, getting great satisfaction from discovering what the problem was and finding ways to make things work again. He was able to fix just about anything and was always willing to use his skill to help family and friends with any repair. He accepted Christ as his personal Saviour and was baptized on confession of his faith. For many years, he and Frieda attended the Central MB church. They later found a home with the River East Menno Gemeinde, where they treasured the love and fellowship extended to them. His faith and his family were the singular important things in his life. There were many happy and fun-filled occasions of celebrating, eating together, and sharing stories. His grandchildren brought magic to his life and revealed a loving and mischievous Opa, who was always willing to go the extra mile for them. We will miss our Opa. We thank God for blessing us with our Opa for these many years. We grieve his passing but we know that he is with his Lord and Saviour, and that we will see him again some day in heaven. We will celebrate his life on Thursday, December 7 at 1:00 p.m. at Klassen Funeral Home, 1897 Henderson Hwy., with interment to follow in the Mennonite Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to the River East Menno Gemeinde Building Fund, 825 Panet Rd., Winnipeg, MB. Arrangements in care of: Klassen Funeral Home 1897 Henderson Hwy. - 338-0331 Condolences may be emailed to: klassenfh@alderwoods.com
