JOHN (WALDRON) MCCRINDLE Peacefully, with family by his side, our beloved husband, father and grandpa, John McCrindle passed away on December 2, 2006, at the Concordia Hospital at the age of 77 years. Left to mourn and cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 52 years, Doreen (née Hoyle); his sons, Tim (Claudette) and Murray (Carolyn), Greg, and daughter Cheryl McAllister, his 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He also leaves his four brothers, Andy (Irene), Bob (Grace), Chris (Paulette) and Dale McCrindle, and many nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his parents and dear granddaughter Janelle. John was born in Nipawin, Saskatchewan on November 26, 1929, oldest child of Chris McCrindle and Lillian Wall. In 1951 he joined the Canadian Air Force and shortly after he met Doreen and they were united in marriage on September 18, 1954. In 1973, John and his family moved to Birtle, Manitoba, where he worked for the Birtle School Division until his retirement in July, 1994. Throughout his entire life, John's passion was for music and song, as well as his desire to help those less fortunate. He shared his passions by generously volunteering his time to many clubs and organizations. He was involved with the Winnipeg Male Chorus since 1958, Good Neighbours Senior Choir and North Kildonan Choir. He was also a long-standing member of the Lions Club, and donated much of his time to the Good Neighbours Senior Center and the Genealogical Society. In 2003, John's proudest moment was when he was presented with a recognition award at the Legislative Building from the Seniors Minister (Diane McGifford) for his long outstanding contribution to the Seniors of Manitoba. Despite his failing health, John always had a smile on his face and a warm hello for all who came to visit. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 9, 2006 at the North Kildonan United Church, 174 Pentland Street, with Rev. Mark Whitehead presiding. The family would like to extend sincere thanks to all the caring staff at Concordia Hospital. Flowers are gratefully declined.
