WILLIAM (BILL) KWASNYCIA (April 22, 1929 - December 4, 2006) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband and father, Bill, at Health Sciences Centre, at the age of 77 years, after a short battle with leukemia. Bill was the cherished husband of Inez for 55 years and loving father of Heather and Gerald (Linda). He was predeceased by his parents, Sam and Sophie Kwasnycia; his dogs, Ricci, Remy and Asta and his grand-dogs and cats , Major, Max, Tigger and Tara. He had many great memories from his childhood in the Point Douglas area. Bill attended St. Paul's High School. Bill was a member of the Winnipeg Musician's Union. He played the drums and at one time he had his own band, Personality In Rhythm . Bill worked for United Grain Growers (now Agricore United) as Manager of Office Services for 40 years, retiring in 1989. He was very proud to be able to say that he worked for five presidents of the company. Bill enjoyed the family cottage at Minaki, which was purchased in 1979, and spent many wonderful years there with family and friends. In the latter years, he enjoyed line dancing and square dancing with Inez, the love of his life. In 1947, Bill was a survivor of the Dugald train disaster and as a result of that he made his television debut on the History Channel on the program Disasters of the Century . Many thanks to the caregivers at CancerCare Manitoba and in particular Dr. James Johnston and Erin Elphee. Also thanks to the wonderful staff on D6 and A4 at Health Sciences Centre where he spent a great deal of time in the last six months. The care that he received was outstanding. Also thanks to the Home Care workers of the WRHA who were very caring. At his request, cremation has taken place. Interment will occur at a later date in a private family service. A memorial service will be held at Grace Lutheran Church (211 Kimberly Ave.) on Thursday, December 7 at 11:00 a.m. Flowers are gratefully declined. Remembrances may be made to CancerCare Manitoba (Room 1160, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9) or Grace Lutheran Church (211 Kimberly Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2K 0X3).
