CORNELIA BREMNER (nee PHERNAMBUCQ) Cornelia Bremner (nee Phernambucq), known as Corrie to all who knew and loved her; a mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend peacefully passed away in the Palliative Care Unit at St. Boniface Hospital, on Monday, December 4, 2006. Corrie has joined her beloved husband (Chuck) Charles Bremner who predeceased her on July 31, 1993. She will be forever loved and sadly missed by her sons, Bruce (Nancy), and Craig (Marion). Beloved grandchildren, Jared (Kristen), Whitney, Chelsey, Keaton, and great-granddaughter Brooklynn will forever hold numerous cherished memories of the special birthdays, holidays, and Christmases. Corrie was born on September 14, 1923 in Winnipeg, MB. She worked in the Munitions Plant in Toronto during the Second World War. While working for Canada Safeway, she met Chuck who was working for M.T.S.; their dating years included dancing in the pavilion at Grand Beach and traveling on the midnight special . They were married June 24, 1950 and in 1952 moved to River Heights. Corrie retired from Safeway in 1987 and kept in touch with special co-workers. Corrie was always in search of new activities to be involved with and was in continuous pursuit of knowledge. During her retirement she excelled at numerous crafts and her friends and family were the recipients of her original creations of stained glass, paper toll, knitting, and sewing. She was an active member in many bridge clubs, bowling leagues, aquasize classes, and enjoyed her walks with her beloved Sheltie, Shea. Corrie's parents emigrated from Holland and operated a market garden on Henderson Highway. During her late teens she lost her mother to cancer and she helped raise her three brothers (Bill, Mernie, and Bert). Family was her priority. Her friendship with all her friends was also a very important aspect of her life. Heart-felt thanks to the wonderful and caring staff of St. Boniface Hospital Palliative Care Unit. Their care and compassion helped family during this difficult time.
