OLGA KULPAK Peacefully on Sunday, December 3, 2006, Olga Kulpak, beloved mother of Carlotta passed away at the age of 90. She was predeceased in 1995 by her loving husband Bill with whom she shared 55 years of marriage; her parents, Dymetro and Anastasia Stefaniuk; sister Stella in childhood; and brothers-in-law, Bill Sempovitch, Walter Kulpak and Michael Samson. Olga was born on September 5, 1916 in Hanley, SK and spent her early years in Prud'homme, SK. She worked in the municipal office in Bruno, SK and after her marriage to Bill, they moved to Cudworth and then returned to Prud'homme to operate a Red and White Store. In 1945, they moved to Selkirk where she was employed at McMillan Agencies and the Western Lotteries. Olga was a devoted and dedicated member of the community and especially to the Holy Eucharist Church for 60 years. She was a member of the church choir which her husband initiated. She inspired the parish by her devotion and caring ways. Olga enjoyed travelling. She and Bill looked forward to their annual summer holidays across Canada, United States, Ukraine and Europe. Hawaii was her favourite winter destination for 30 years. Olga had a zest for life and lived every moment to the fullest. She was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening and nature, as well as being an excellent cook. She had a strong work ethic, her life was influenced by her Christian beliefs as her faith was very strong. She was youthful in her appearance, mannerisms and was pleased to have recently celebrated her 90th birthday. Olga was a kind and caring person who will be sadly missed, not only by her family but by her many friends. She is survived by her loving daughter Carlotta; sisters, Stella Sempovitch and Florence (Ben) Haluk; sister-in-law Pauline Samson and numerous nieces and nephews. Prayers will be said on Friday, December 8 at 7:30 p.m. at the Gilbart Funeral Chapel in Selkirk. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Saturday, December 9 at 10:00 a.m. at the Holy Eucharist Ukrainian Catholic Church in Selkirk with Fr. Peter Chorney officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Don Gordon, Ben Haluk, Ernie Hubic and Bill Stakiw. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, to the Holy Eucharist Church or towards a memorial mass. What the heart has cherished can never be forgotten. Love and Aloha Mom as you leave your earthly home and enter your spiritual paradise.
