EMILY RUTH MILLER (nee BERNHARDT) On Thursday, December 7, 2006, Emily Miller peacefully passed away at Health Sciences Centre. She will be greatly missed by her son Gary (Lois); sisters, Florence (Del) and Eileen; brothers, Gordon (Bonnie) and Clifford (Bev); numerous nieces and nephews and her dear friend, Viola Gross. She was predeceased by her husband, Joe; her sisters, Jacqueline, Doris, Alma and Violet. Emily was born on March 30, 1924 and resided in Elmwood throughout her life. She married Joe in 1945 and was widowed in 1977. Theirs was a partnership filled with much love and laughter. Emily was a self-reliant and resourceful individual and she lived independently in her own house until her recent admission to hospital. Her beautiful flower gardens gave her much pleasure as did watching wrestling on TV. Emily was a wonderful cook and her special dishes were always a highlight of the holidays. Emily lived for her family. She dearly loved her nieces and nephews and their children and she remembered each and every family birthday, anniversary and special occasion. The family would like to extend their gratitude to doctors, R. Rowe, K. Wiebe, J. Zacharias, E. Buchel, nursing staff of D4 and D5, Health Sciences Centre and at Concordia Hospital. In addition, our most sincere thanks to Flo Terry and Pastor Richard Kruesel for their support during this final journey. Emily was a lifetime member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church. A memorial service will be held at the church, 708 McCalman Ave. on Tuesday, December 12 at 2:00 p.m. Private interment will follow at a later date.
