JACOB (JACK'S KOZY KORNER) DUECK It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Jacob Dueck, on Wednesday, December 6, 2006 at the age of 72. Jacob leaves to cherish his memory, his loving son Thomas (Carita), special friend Florence of 20 years and her sons, Mike and Kevin. He was predeceased in 1985 by his loving wife Marion of 28 years; his parents Elizabeth and Peter Dyck; sisters, Helen and Margaret; brothers, Abe, Henry and Peter. Jack's memory will be cherished by sisters, Betty and Mary; brother Neil; sister-in-law Susan; brother-in-law Jake, their families and all who knew and loved him. He was born in Altona in 1934, where he lived on the family farm and then moved with his family to South America where his father passed away. The family soon returned to Altona and Jack took on various occupations at Brett Young Seeds, Dutch Maid and was part-owner of the Cascade Hotel in Eagle River, ON. In 1968, Jack and Marion opened up Jack's Ice Cream Parlour in Lockport, which then led to the purchase of the Kozy Korner in Beausejour in 1970. Jack soon after changed the name to Jack's Kozy Korner and the legacy began. Jack looked forward to his yearly trips to Florida with his family where he enjoyed long days, soaking up the sun while fishing off the docks. Someone once said that if Jack had gills, he'd be a fish, because besides flipping burgers and making milkshakes, that's what he lived for. Jack was an avid sports fan himself and spent many years supporting various sporting events and activities in the Beausejour Community. He felt that giving back to the community was the best way to say thank you to the faithful customers who returned every year to make Jack's Kozy Korner a well-known and loved fast-food restaurant. He was a kind and caring man who liked spending time with family and friends. Special holidays and family gatherings were cherished times for Jack. He looked forward to travelling, playing crib, fishing and special drives to Lockport for ice cream. Another passion of Jack's was spending time at the casino where he shared special times over coffee with his son. Last, but not least, Jack loved to share a laugh. He told funny stories, enjoyed a good joke and could never be seen without a smile. Viewing will be held on Monday, December 11 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the Wheeler Funeral Chapel, 211 Regent Ave. West. A celebration of Jack's life will be held on Tuesday, December 12 at 12:00 p.m. noon in the Wheeler Funeral Chapel. Interment to follow at Glen Eden Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Danny Dueck, Ed Klassen, John Falk, Allen Grinham, Lloyd Dyck and Jim Born. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Jacob's name to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 200 - 310 Broadway. The song has ended but the melody lingers on Funeral arrangements in care of: WHEELER FUNERAL CHAPEL 211 REGENT AVENUE, WEST 224-1525
