MABEL BLANCHE IRVINE (nee STEVENSON) Mabel Blanche Irvine passed away peacefully in the Crowsnest Pass Continuing Care Centre, Blairmore, AB on December 4, 2006 at the age of 97 years. Mabel is survived by her sons, Shel (Doris) and Bruce (June) of Blairmore, AB; her grandchildren, Kent (April) and Lisa (Dan) Mueller; six great-grandchildren; and her sister-in-law Annie Stevenson. She was predeceased by her husband Merton in 1983; her grandson Boyd in 1988; her great-grandson Justin in 1995; and by all her brothers and sisters. Mabel was born November 16, 1909 at Morris, MB, daughter of Matthew (Jim) and Mary Ann Stevenson. Mabel graduated from the Grace Hospital School of Nursing in 1931 and nursed in the Morris area until she married Merton in 1937. In 1943, they moved to the Marais District where they farmed for many years. In 1957, Mabel resumed nursing at the Emerson Hospital until retirement. Mabel moved to Blairmore, AB in 1998 to be closer to her children. Mabel was active in her community and was a member of the United Church. She loved nature, gardening, travelling and time spent with family and friends. Mabel's door was always open and she welcomed everyone. Cremation has taken place. A service and interment will be held at a later date to be announced. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made in Mabel's memory to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, Unit 10, 120 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2.
