Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryIRENE ELENORE BLANCHARD (nee MAZINKE) It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother and grandmother on December 5, 2006 at the age of 73. Irene was predeceased by her parents, Henry and Bertha Mazinke and an infant sister Ruth. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Elmer; son Greg (Anne) and daughter Lynn (Mark) and four grandchildren, Courtney, Tyler, Derek and Jenna. She also leaves behind her sisters, Laura and Shirley (Peter) and brothers, Edward (Hedy), Walter (Ina), Harvey (Marian) and Arthur (Denise). She also loved her pet grand-dogs , Berkley and Pirate. Irene was born in DeWet, MB on June 29, 1933. She was raised on the family farm near Sewell, MB. She moved to Winnipeg and met her husband Elmer while participating in square dancing. They were married on June 8, 1957 and she raised her two children as a stay at home mom. She later returned to work at Silver Heights Medical Clinic for a number of years where she made numerous friends. Irene's family was her passion and utmost priority. She spent many hours supporting and watching her children and grandchildren's activities that included curling, hockey and music. She enjoyed many years of bowling, loved to travel and spend time at the lake with family and friends. Family dinners were very important to Irene. She loved to cook and bake and especially enjoyed these treasured times. Her fabulous cinnamon buns and chocolate chip cookies were among our favourites and will be missed by us all. She gave so freely and expected nothing in return. She enjoyed many cups of coffee and friendship with the Unicity Coffee Group and will be missed dearly by all her friends. The family would like to thank the doctors and staff for all the care and support provided during her stay at the Grace General Hospital. We would also like to express our appreciation to all who have been a source of support and comfort during these difficult past few weeks. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the St. James Lutheran Church, 871 Cavalier Dr., Winnipeg, MB R2Y 1C7. Funeral service will be held on Monday, December 11 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. James Lutheran Church, 871 Cavalier Dr. at Hamilton Avenue with Pastor Karl Koslowsky officiating. Reception will follow.
