LAMBERTHA (LINDA) DOORNINK 1915 - 2006 Linda passed away quietly at Seven Oaks Hospital on December 6, 2006 at the age of 91. She was predeceased by her husband Ernst in 2001, after 66 years of marriage, and her daughter Erna Apperloo in 2005. Linda will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Elly van Endhoven (Philip); sons, Bart (Wendy) and Ernst Jr. (Irma); son-in-law Marc Apperloo; grandchildren and great-grandchildren in Canada and The Netherlands. Linda was born in Klundert, The Netherlands on April 2, 1915. She moved with her parents to Rotterdam where she received her schooling and where she met and married Ernst. The war caused a lot of problems and Ernst was picked up during a roundup, but managed to escape from a train destined for a work camp in Germany. He spent the rest of the war hiding in the northern part of The Netherlands. It was then that Linda demonstrated her ingenuity in reuniting the family, including the children, in the place where Ernst was in hiding; a real feat in occupied Holland. In 1959 Linda immigrated to Canada with Ernst and two sons, settling in Winnipeg. When Ernst retired they spent the next 12 winters in Arizona. Shortly after Ernst passed away, Linda moved to Fred Douglas Lodge where she resided until her death. A memorial service to celebrate Linda's life will be held at St. John's Presbyterian Church, 251 Bannerman Ave. on Monday December 11 at 2:00 p.m., with the Reverend Kevin MacDonald presiding. A private interment will take place at Green Acres Memorial Gardens. Special thanks from the family to the staff of Seven Oaks Hospital Emergency Room, the staff at Fred Douglas Lodge, Joe and Minnie Jobse and Jackie Zonneveld for their exceptional care, love and compassion for our mother. In lieu of flowers, your gifts to Fred Douglas Foundation, 1275 Burrows Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2X 0B8 or to St. John's Memorial Fund are appreciated by the family GREEN ACRES Funeral Home and Cemetery Hwy. #1 E. at Navin, (204) 222-3241
